Go Mo!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

I'm talking about Mo Elleithee, who I found out last night had signed on as senior communications advisor to the Deeds campaign. Among other campaigns, Mo has worked for Bill Bradley (1999-2000), Chuck Robb (2000), Mark Warner (2001), Janet Reno (2002), Bob Graham (2003), Wes Clark (2003-2004), (Tim Kaine (2005), Harris Miller (2006), Hillary Clinton (2007-2008), Tom Udall (2008), and Terry McAuliffe (2009). Needless to say, Mo has just a weeee bit of political experience, including a lot of successful political experience.

Personally, I like and respect Mo a great deal, and look forward to Creigh's campaign getting more aggressive in coming weeks, as it has done the past few days. That's one thing I like about Mo, he knows how to fight and isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Which, in this case, is that Bob McDonnell heads up the most extreme, out-of-the-mainstream ticket in modern Virginia history. I'm not just talking, by the way, about the statewide candidates - McDonnell, Bolling, Cooch - but also about many of the Republican House of Delegates candidates, such as Crazy Catherine Crabill and "Sideshow Bob" Marshall. I look forward to the Deeds campaign tying Bob McDonnell to these people, as well as to the irresponsible demagogues in the national Republican Party (e.g., Sarah Palin), and making sure that everyone knows Bob McDonnell is NOT who he's telling us he is.

In short: Go Mo! :)

P.S. Even more importantly, the Washington Post reports that Mo and his wife are expecting their first child. Mazel tov to Mo and his wife Tali!

P.P.S. The addition of Mo Elleithee is just the latest in a series of hires from the Terry McAuliffe for Governor campaign (e.g., Eli Kaplan is particularly excellent, and I've heard great things about Mark Giangreco). Whatever you think about Terry McAuliffe, there's no doubt that he had a superb staff.
