Barack Obama Reappoints Ben Bernanke

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

So much for Barack Obama being a "radical" or whatever b.s. conservatives, teabaggers, etc. are spewing out about him. Bernanke was, of course, appointed by that infamous "socialist," "liberal" and "radical" George W. Bush. Now, I'm not saying I necessarily have a problem with Bernanke's re-appointment, I'm just pointing out the idiocy of the right wingnuts about the Obama administration.

Actually, come to think of it, I've been hearing (and reading on the blogs) increased grumbling from friends (and people I don't know) further to the left than I am about how Obama is continuing too many of the Bush Administration's policies. I hear they're saying, but I generally don't agree, given that Obama has been pushing hard for health insurance reform, for action on crucial energy and environmental issues, for a revamp of our foreign policy, for investments in crucial infrastructure that were neglected for 8 years under the Bush Administration, for a change in our interrogation policies back towards legality (where they should have been in the first place), etc. Also, whatever else you might think about Ben Bernanke and the entire financial rescue/economic recovery effort, we do seem to have averted Great Depression II (as Paul Krugman has pointed out), and I give Barack Obama (and the Bush Administration in its closing days) a lot of credit for that.
