From the Raising Kaine Archives: 8/13

Thursday, August 13, 2009

As part of our continuing series, here are a few interesting articles from this date in Virginia political history, courtesy of the Raising Kaine archives.

8/13/05: "NH Court Ruling and Jerry Kilgore" ("The Kilgore-style 'round 'em up for trespassing, loitering, or whatever you can charge 'em with' strategy has now been ruled as 'unconstitutional attempts to regulate in the area of enforcement of immigration violations, an area where Congress must be deemed to have regulated with such civil sanctions and criminal penalties as it feels are sufficient.'" )

8/13/06: "The Toupees are Up! (10 of 'em!). Allen Uses Racist Term?" ("What could this be all about? I have no idea, but Ben claims some sort of "MAJOR SENATE RACE SHAKEUP." Should be interesting!")

8/13/06: "Jim Webb's Conference Call Tonight" (In a conference call to house parties across Virginia, "Webb confidently predicted that on November 8, 'exactly 9 months to the day' after he entered the race, 'there will be a lot of people who will be surprised" at his victory over George Allen.'")

8/13/07: "Abuser Fee Decision Reversed by Circuit Court" ("This is bad news, unless you are one of the 100 10 very few people who actually LIKE the 'abuser fees'")

8/13/08: "Audio from Perriello vs. Goode Forum" (Tom Perriello debates Virgil Goode at the Senior Statesmen of Virginia candidates' forum)
