First quarter 2009 finance reports are now in, and I'm going to be looking at them in coming days. First, here are the bottom lines for the 47th House of Delegates district race (to replace the retiring Del. Al Eisenberg). The candidates are listed in descending order by first quarter receipts.
1. Adam Parkhomenko: Receipts in 1Q09=$43,819; Ending balance=$17,201.23
2. Alan Howze: Receipts in 1Q09=$34,681.69; Ending balance=$25,076.50
3. Patrick Hope: Receipts in 1Q09=$23,695.07; Ending balance=$10,961.16
4. Andres Tobar: Receipts in 1Q09=$13,312.94; Ending balance=$6,885.79
5. Miles Grant: Receipts in 1Q09=$5,697.50; Ending balance=$9,851.80
In terms of first quarter receipts, it looks like Parkhomenko in particular, and Howze to a lesser extent, outpaced the other three candidates in the race. I'm somewhat surprised that Patrick Hope didn't do better in that regard, given his high-profile endorsements and the earlier buzz about his candidacy. I'm also surprised at how much money Alan Howze raised, but even more impressed with how much cash he has "on hand." On that metric, Howze and Parkhomenko are clearly in the lead, followed by Hope, Grant and Tobar.
In other 47th House of Delegates district news, I'm hearing that Adam Parkhomenko is being endorsed by Tammy Duckworth, who apparently now lives in Arlington. Duckworth reportedly attended the Arlington Young Democrats meeting last night to announce her support for Parkhomenko, who introduced her.
Finally, the Arlington County Democratic Committee (ACDC) is sponsoring a 47th district candidate forum on April 21 from 7:00 to 9:00PM at the National Rural Electrical Cooperative Association Building, 4301 North Wilson Blvd (near Ballston Metro). Should be interesting...
