I found the following exchange between Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran to be extremely revealing. Certainly, no real environmentalist would EVER say what Brian Moran says here. Instead, they'd say something like, "if I knew then what I know now about the imminent peril of climate change, of COURSE I would have voted differently; so yes, I deeply regret my vote for the Wise County coal-fired power plant." Instead, we get this exchange:
Terry McAuliffe to Brian Moran: "You recently stated that...opposing the construction of new coal plants here in Virginia, that you were against that. But last month in southwest Virginia, you were reported as saying that we should keep coal on the table as a viable source of energy. And to help clarify the issue, I hope you'll explain something to me. You voted in support of the Wise County coal plant. Were you wrong in voting for that coal facility back then?
Brian Moran: "No."
Again, that's a big "N-O" from Brian Moran on whether he was wrong in voting for the Wise County coal-fired power plant.
Moran then changes the subject and talks about his opposition to the proposed Surry County coal-fired power plant, but does not reconcile his vote for the Wise County coal-fired power plant with his self-professed environmentalist credentials. Can anyone possibly explain Brian Moran's complete lack of regret for his Wise County coal-fired power plant support without changing the subject or attacking Terry McAuliffe? Right, I didn't think so...
