Raising Kaine Headlines: 8/11/05

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Just for fun, I'm thinking about tracking where we were four years ago in the Kaine-Kilgore governor's race by posting headlines from the Raising Kaine archives every day. For instance, here's what we were talking about on August 11, 2005:

Jerry Kilgore Subpoenaed in "Spying Scandal" (the Washington Times writes, "An attorney for an insurance company being sued by the state Republican Party sent subpoenas yesterday to several high-ranking Republicans seeking a broad range of records related to a political eavesdropping scandal. Among those subpoenaed were gubernatorial candidate and former Virginia Attorney General Jerry W. Kilgore...")

Oil Prices Surge Near $66 per Barrel; Thanks Pres. Bush! (For comparison purposes, today we're at $69.45 for West Texas Intermediate crude on the NYMEX)

Washington Post Slams Kilgore for "Nativism" ("Struggling in the latest statewide poll and evidently grasping for an issue to excite his conservative base and make inroads in Northern Virginia, Mr. Kilgore injected himself into a local dispute in the town of Herndon...")

George Allen at 1% in New Hampshire (John McCain leading in an ARG poll with 39%, undecided at 32%, Newt Gingrich at 14%, Mitt Romney at 8%, Bill Frist at 5%, George Allen at 1%)

Any interest in this as a continuing feature here at Blue Virginia?
