Great stuff. Meanwhile, Gov. Ah-Nuld Schwarzenegger (R-CA) weighs in and endorses President Obama's health care effort.
As Governor, I have made significant efforts to advance health reform in California. As the Obama Administration was launching the current debate on health care reform, I hosted a bipartisan forum in our state because I believe in the vital importance of this issue, and that it should be addressed through bipartisan cooperation.Wait, no "death panels" or "socialism" or "government taking over health care" b.s.? Wow, a sane Republican; what a concept!
Our principal goals, slowing the growth in costs, enhancing the quality of care delivered, improving the lives of individuals, and helping to ensure a strong economic recovery, are the same goals that the president is trying to achieve. I appreciate his partnership with the states and encourage our colleagues on both sides of the political aisle at the national level to move forward and accomplish these vital goals for the American people.
UPDATE: The Progressive States Network just announced that over 1,000 state legislators - including 6 from Virginia (Kris Amundson, David Englin, Delores McQuinn, Jim Scott, Patricia Ticer, Jeion Ward) - have signed a letter that "urges[s] the Obama Administration and Congress to pass comprehensive health care reform legislation, including the choice of a public health insurance plan, within the year." Nice job, I just wish there were a lot more signatories from Virginia!
