Wait, John O'Bannon is a DOCTOR?!?

Monday, October 26, 2009

Wow, this guy is a doctor yet he totally doesn't understand the concept of pluripotency (ability "to differentiate into all derivatives of the three primary germ layers: ectoderm, endoderm, and mesoderm.") and why that makes embryonic stem cells so potentially powerful in developing treatments and cures for a long list of terrible diseases? The Republicans once again prove that they are the "know-nothing, anti-science party." Amazing.

P.S. For O'Bannon's information and potential edification, he might want to know that "while embryonic stem cells can generate all cell types in the body, adult stem cells are multipotent and can only produce a limited number of cell types."

UPDATE: More evidence that "Doctor" John O'Bannon has absolutely no clue what he's talking about when it comes to science or medicine. Wow, this is painful to watch. Great work by Del. Vivian Watts (D-39), by the way. Also, go Tom Shields!
