What's the US Chamber of Commerce Trying to Hide?

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has been running ads attacking Creigh Deeds non-stop. Particularly dishonest is transportation ads that quotes Washington Post editorials from July when the Post has been praising Deeds' transportation plans in the campaign's stretch run.

So why is the Chamber now stonewalling that same newspaper on the content of its ads?

But the chamber, which has not endorsed Democrat Creigh Deeds or Republican Bob McDonnell, refuses to share the ad's script or message with us.

It's an odd strategy -- considering that the ads are already on the air in the state. What is the nation's largest business group trying to hide?

The Chamber's already been getting pummeled for weeks now, shunned by the White House, dumped by Apple and burned by the Yes Men. How much is the Chamber willing to sacrifice in its futile attempts to block health insurance reform and clean energy reform?
