DNC Sends Another $1 Million to Deeds Campaign

Sunday, October 4, 2009

We'll see if this helps or not:
The Democratic National Committee is sending an additional $1 million to aid Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds’ campaign, POLITICO has learned.

The money comes in addition to the $5 million the party committee has already committed to the Virginia race, one of two governors races in the country this fall.

“We’re thrilled with the additional commitment from Governor Kaine and the DNC,” said Deeds senior adviser Mo Elleithee. “The fact that they are digging so deep shows that they’re fully committed to Creigh and to this race, and we’re appreciative of their continued support.”

In addition to the cash, the DNC is also sending staffers, technology support and turnout modeling assistance across the Potomac.
Not a bad boost for the Deeds campaign with 30 days to go. Also, it's an interesting development given the rumors floating around that the DNC wasn't fully committed to the Deeds campaign. So much for that? Let's hope so.

P.S. McDonnell spokesman Tucker Martin had a negative comment (surprise, surprise): "We've always known that Deeds would have plenty of national money; what is striking is the fact that he has no message or vision to go with it...One million times zero still equals zero." Lovely.

UPDATE: On the other hand, we have comments like these.
