I talked to Arlington County Democratic Committee (ACDC) Chair Peter Rousselot yesterday about this year's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. The event will be held on May 15, relatively early for Arlington, although Peter pointed out that "we don't have a set time" to hold it.
In 2005, the ACDC's JJ dinner was held on July 12, and the keynote speaker was then-Attorney General nominee Creigh Deeds. In 2006, the dinner was held on June 9, just 4 days before the Webb-Miller primary, and the keynote speaker was Jim Moran. In 2007, the dinner was held on June 7, and the keynote speaker was DNC Chair Howard Dean. In 2008, the dinner was held on July 11, and the keynote speaker was Tim Kaine. According to Peter Rousselot, this year's dinner is being held several weeks earlier to take advantage of interest in the primary, as well as a congressional recess and the Memorial Day holiday schedule. It sounds like the keynote speaker this year will be a good one, but Peter isn't saying who...
P.S. Loudoun County's JJ dinner will be on May 2, Prince William County's on May 30, and Fairfax County's on May 31.
UPDATE: PWDC chair Pete Frisbie informs me that Governor Michael Dukakis will be the keynote speaker at their dinner.
