...Greenpeace has filed a Virginia Freedom of Information Request with both Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine's (D) office and the University of Virginia demanding an array of correspondence concerning Patrick Michaels, a senior fellow at both the conservative Cato Institute and at George Mason University. Michaels also held the title of Virginia's official climatologist starting in 1980 until Kaine announced in August 2006 he did not consider Michaels as holding that honorary post. Thanks to Greenpeace for taking this action; I will definitely look forward to seeing what they come up with. In general, it's high time that people who care about the environment fight back against all the climate change deniers' lies, misinformation, disinformation, pseudoscience, scurrilous nonsense, distortions, delaying tactics...well, you get the idea.
The FOIA to Kaine requests any "letters, email, faxes, reports, meeting and teleconference agendas, minutes, notes, transcripts, tape recordings and phone logs generated by or involving Dr. Patrick Michaels regarding global climate change (a.k.a. global warming)."

"If successful, we will reveal how the corrupting influence of polluter lobbyists and the politicians they have in their pockets continues to handcuff the US government on climate and energy policy," [Greenpeace U.S. research director Kert Davies] said. "The legacy of denial and delay caused by these actors will never be undone, but we can weaken their grip moving forward."
