Pre-Debate on NewsChannel 8

Thursday, September 17, 2009

"Rivals in Virginia's governor's race are preparing to meet in what has been a turning-point debate in some recent races."

Will the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce debate be a turning point this year, as it was in 2005 and 2006? We'll see soon enough...

P.S. In the absence of technical difficulties, I plan to live blog this starting around 10:30 am. Of course, given that almost every debate has had technical difficulties, I'm not holding my breath.

UPDATE 9:35 am: Courtesy of Vince Harris, here's a photo of McDonnell supporters outside the debate. Now, what about some pic's of Deeds supporters? [Note: WVIR-TV reporter Adam Rhew reports, "Several dozen Deeds and McDonnell supporters rallying with signs outside debate"]

UPDATE 10:08 am: The McDonnell people have more photos and even a video of supporters rallying prior to the debate. I still haven't seen anything from the Deeds camp, but maybe I'm missing it?

UPDATE 10:34 am: Thanks to Ben Tribbett for these pics of Jared Leopold working the room and John Foust getting ready to watch the debate.

UPDATE 10:38 am: And of course no debate would be complete without Ben Tribbett in his burgundy suit! :) (photo courtesy of Mo Elleithee)

UPDATE 10:41 am: Adam Rhew tweets, "Reporters just asked to leave Va gov debate hall to go watch in press room. Lotsa angry reporters." Also, "Cameras are still here but they won't let print folks sit in auditorium and work on laptops." Totally lame, I'm glad I decided to live blog this from home. Adam Rhew adds (and I agree), "Cannot say more strongly how WRONG it is for reporters to get booted from debate hall."
