“It’s close, but right now we’re at the 218 mark,” said G.K. Butterfield , D-N.C., an Energy and Commerce Committee member who is working to rally support for the bill. “It was very close earlier today, but the president has been on the phone with some members. Folks are coming off the fence. Folks who have been procrastinating on this are realizing they will have to make up their minds. I predict we will have 230.”I've also heard a prediction of 240 votes for this bill, with almost no Republican support (including from "moderates" like Frank Wolf and "pro-environment Republicans" like Rob Wittman - ha!). As usual, the Republicans are the "party of no" on everything that matters, ranging from energy and the environment to health care to economic recovery to funding our troops to...well, you name it. Why would anyone ever vote for those guys (and they're almost all guys)?
