Hotline has a preview of tomorrow's National Journal "Insiders' Poll." There are a couple of Virginia-related findings worth noting.
First, when asked "Which member has the brightest future?", Democratic "Congressional Insiders" rank Mark Warner second (with 13% of the vote) while Democratic "Political Insiders" rank Warner first (also with 13% of the vote).
Second, when asked the same question ("Which member has the brightest future?"), Republican "Political Insiders" rank Eric Cantor second (with 20% of the vote), behind John Thune of South Dakota (he gets 32% of the vote).
Finally, in response to the question, "Which political figure has most impressed you this year?," GOP "Congressional Insiders" and "Political Insiders" rate Bob McDonnell #1, with 13% and 22% of the vote, respectively. Trailing Bob McDonnell among GOP "Political Insiders" is his pal Sarah Palin, who gets 11% of the vote.
Ha, so...McDonnell-Palin 2012? It would be completely laughable if it weren't such a nightmare. At least McDonnell is a smart guy, even if he's as right wing as they come ("Pat Robertson's Manchurian Candidate"). In contrast, Sarah Palin gives you the far-right-wing wackiness without a scintilla of intelligence to speak of. In short, I'd take Bob McDonnell as president any day over Sarah Palin. Heck, I'd even take Ken Cuccinelli over Sarah Palin, again because at least nobody questions Cooch's intelligence (his sanity, on the other hand...). Of course, I don't want any of these people to get anywhere near the White House, but then again, I don't want Mitt Romney, John Thune, Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum or Mike Huckabee either. Sensing a pattern here? :)
