Democrats Create Jobs Twice as Fast as Republicans

Saturday, December 5, 2009

As yet another Democratic administration saves the country from yet another Republican disaster - this time the horrendous damage the Bush Administration and Republican Congress did to our economy - this factoid should be repeated a million times until everyone has heard it and fully absorbed it: "since 1959, the average private sector job growth under four-year Democratic administrations is 11.7%. Under Republican administrations, it's 5.4%." That's right, private sector job growth has been more than twice as fast under Democratic than Republican administrations since 1959.

Now, here's a graph (starkly) illustrating the same thing:

Essentially, anyone who argues that Republicans are better for the economy is just flat out wrong. That's not my opinion, those are the facts.

Now we have the latest example, as Barack Obama and a Democratic Congress have taken an economy on the verge of Great Depression Part II less than a year ago and gotten it to the point where the unemployment rate has stabilized and actually started to fall. This, despite the constant talking down of the economy by Republican'ts - Eric Cantor, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, etc. - who apparently either want the economy (and with it, the Democrats) to fail, or at least care more about their own political futures than about whether they help get Americans back to work. Thus, "the party of no" - no ideas of its own, no constructive criticism, just negativity and nastiness, all the time. What a party, huh?
