Moon-Cook Results (Fairfax County Board of Supervisors)

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I'm getting these results from the Fairfax County Election Returns website. As of right now, 7:55 pm, Ilryong Moon (D) is trailing John C. Cook (R) 4,281-4,014 with 17 of 25 precincts reporting.

UPDATE 8:05 pm: With 22 of 25 precincts reporting, it's now Cook ahead of Moon, 5,251-5,130. Not looking good right now... :(

UPDATE 8:08 pm: With 24 of 25 precincts reporting (only Fairview is outstanding), it's Cook ahead of Moon by 69 votes, 5,937-5,868. Nail biter!

UPDATE 8:40 pm: James Martin "tweets": "Cook won by 16 votes... Litigation to follow over a broken machine!" Craaaazy.

UPDATE 6:00 am Wednesday: FCDC Chairman Scott Surovell writes, "There were numerous possible anomalies during the vote tabulation apparently relating to one machine which caused the Fairview Precinct election officers to call the Registrars' Office technical staff." Also, "no paper trail exists as to Fairview Precinct's voters' intent" because "the new paper ballot/optical scan equipment used in the Presidential election was not used in this year's special elections due to budget constraints associated with printing the optical scan ballots - only electronic voting machines were used."

UPDATE 11:11 am: Blue Commonwealth blogger Frank Anderson is at the Fairfax County Government Center and reports:
They're going through the book a second time because there were a few numbers missing. In another room, they're looking at four provisional ballots. This is going to take at least another half hour. I'm probably not going to hang around for this but it's being covered by other people as well. A staffer for Moon is videotaping it, and Channel 9 is there.
