SurveyUSA is out with its latest approval ratings for governors and Senators. Here are the results for Virginia.
Tim Kaine: 57%-37% (+20 points) approve. Kaine's approval is highest in NOVA, at 64%-29%, and lowest in "Shenandoah," at 49%-46%. In the previous poll, Kaine was at 54%-37% (+17) approval, so he's ticked up 3 points in the past month.
Jim Webb: 52%-37% (+15) approve. Ironically, given all the talk about Webb's supposed "misogyny," he's much higher among women (55%-30%) than among men (48%-45%). Regionally, Webb's approval is highest in NOVA (55%-35%) and lowest in "Central" Virginia (45%-44%). Last month, Webb was at 52%-33% (+19) approval, which means he's slipped 4 points since the last SurveyUSA poll.
Mark Warner: 65%-29% (+36) approve. Still the most popular statewide politician in Virginia. Warner is popular in all regions of the Commonwealth, including 60%-31% in "Central" Virginia and 60%-32% in "Shenandoah." Last month, Warner was at 67%-20% (+47), so Warner has slipped by 11 points since the previous SurveyUSA poll.
Basically, we've got two popular Democrats U.S. Senators and a popular Democratic governor. This bodes well heading into the 2009 general election for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and the House of Delegates.
