Feeling Sick? Keith Fimian Says Just Say NO

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Since announcing he'll be back for another round against Rep. Gerry Connolly, Keith Fimian has been spending a lot of time cozying up to the tea party crowd. And when it comes to health care, he is fully embracing teh crazy.

At a recent event, Fimian revealed his vision for the perfect health care plan: Quit complaining about being so sick!

No, really. Keith said his vision for health care is that "if [employees] get the sniffles, they’re going to say to themselves, you know, I'm not that sick":

Of course, that advice goes counter to everything doctors say about the flu. If you're sick, stay home so you don't spread the virus and infect coworkers.

But Keith's lack of interest in real solutions is emblematic of today's Republican Party. Keith's website lists no policy positions, only declaring "We have to say NO" to Democratic ideas.

And Keith says NO to much more -- including whether women can make their own health care decisions:
“We always knew Keith Fimian was part of the extreme right-wing because of his radical anti-choice views,” Jesse Ferguson, Southern Regional press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said. “But today’s announcement of his “health care plan” left out his long record of denying family planning options to the women who work for him and his belief that people shouldn’t go to the doctor when they get sick. Keith’s ‘don’t go to the doctor when you get sick’ health care plan is not only insulting to Northern Virginia families struggling with rising health care cots but it also gives us a glimpse at his real ideology.”
If Keith Fimian was too extreme for Fairfax County in 2008, what will he be after two years of trying to prove his tea party bonafides?
