ChChChChanges at the DPVA

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Well, actually, there are some changes and some continuity, at least according to this report by Anita Kumar.
Despite what a lot of politicos think, Levar Stoney, former executive director of the Democratic Party of Virginia, will not be returning to the party following his stint as political director for Creigh Deeds's gubernatorial campaign.

[...]

Also not returning to the party: communications director Jared Leopold, who served as Deeds's spokesman during the general election.
I'd been hearing that Jared Leopold wouldn't be returning to DPVA, but that Dickie Cranwell was trying to bring Levar Stoney back on a contract basis of some sort. In the end, it looks like they're both leaving the DPVA. Best of luck to Jared and Levar in their future endeavors!

Meanwhile, Dickie Cranwell says he's staying on as DPVA chair, even as rumors and discussion continue to swirl about possible replacements for him. Almost every day - today being no exception - I talk to someone in the party (and/or electeds) with ideas for who might be a good DPVA chair to replace Cranwell. It's hard to reconcile Cranwell's statement he has "no plans on stepping down" with the continued chatter about replacements for him. Can anyone help explain this?
