Caps-Penguins, Game #5

It's 2-2 in the best-of-seven, second-round NHL playoff series between the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Right now (8:03 pm), it's scoreless as the 2nd period begins at Verizon Center. Go Caps!

8:12 pm - Penguins score the first goal of the game at 5:17 into the second period, lead the game 1-0. The goal is by Jordan Staal, assists by Miroslav Satan and Brooks Orpik. Crowd very quiet...

8:14 pm - Well, that didn't take long! Alex Ovechkin just scored at 6:16 into the second period, game is now 1-1. The assist on that goal was by Tom Poti. Crowd comes alive!

8:25 pm - With under 6 minutes to go in the second period, the game is still tied, 1-1, with 21 shots for the Penguins and 20 shots for the Cap's.

8:28 pm - Powerplay goal by Nicklas Backstrom (assists by Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Ovechkin), Cap's now lead 2-1!

8:35 pm - End of second period, Cap's continue to lead 2-1.

8:54 pm- Ugh, Penguins tie the game 2-2 just 51 seconds into the third period. Goal by Ruslan Fedotenko, assists by Evgeni Malkin and Kristopher Letang.

9:02 pm - Double ugh, Penguins take the lead 3-2. Goal by Matt Cooke, assists by Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy.

9:20 pm - Running out of time (under 5 minutes left), c'mon guys do it now!

9:22 pm - Ovechkin the Great scores, Cap's tie it up 3-3! Assists by Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom.

9:28 pm - We're heading to overtime...gotta love the NHL playoffs!

9:45 pm - Overtime begins.

9:47 pm - Penalty against the Cap's, power play coming up for Penguins.

9:51 pm - Penguins score just as the power play winds down, win the game 4-3 and go up in the series, 3 games to 2. Sigh...
