Sierra Club Co-Endorses Miles Grant and Alan Howze for Delegate

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

The Sierra Club of Virginia has endorsed Miles Grant and Alan Howze in the 47th House of Delegates district primary to for the Democratic nomination to succeed Del. Al Eisenberg. Here's what the group wrote to Miles:
...While dual endorsements are rare, we thought that in this case, both you and Alan were equally strong committed environmental candidates who would be excellent representatives for the 47th HOD District.

We appreciate and recognize your commitment to the environment in both your personal and work life. As a result, we believe that you would be an effective delegate in the House of Delegates and someone with whom we could count on to take a lead in promoting the critical environmental legislation, particularly related to energy efficiency, that is needed in Virginia.
In spite of the Sierra Club's dual endorsement, I believe that the "Green Miles" Grant is clearly - in terms of his activism, writing, leadership, etc. - the strongest pro-environment, clean energy candidate in the 47th district primary. As in "by a 'Green Mile!" :) As in, "if you care about the environment, vote for Miles Grant on June 9!"

P.S. Thanks to the Sierra Club, good choice! Now, although it's getting late, I hope that the League of Conservation Voters, other Virginia environmental organizations., and pro-environment Arlington elected officials, will strongly consider endorsing Miles Grant as well.

P.P.S. Ironically, Alan Howze will be holding a fundraiser this evening in Richmond at the home of Dominion Power corporate communications administrator Chris Rivers.
