Earlier today, Obama for President campaign manager David Plouffe
had some thoughts on Politico about the Virginia election results.
Question: What would you have done if you had run Creigh Deeds' gubernatorial campaign in Virginia? Many have said that he muddled his message and came off as very negative - do you agree, and what would you have done to manage Deeds' campaign?
David Plouffe: I think there were strong cyclical factors at play. And McDonnell - quite inautenticallly - ran to the center. I suspect Virgina voters will be surprised to learn he is in the Palin/Limbaugh/Beck wing of the party.
Very true. But even more so, I suspect many Virginians who did
not vote yesterday are going to be in for a rude awakening come January 2010...
