GOP Delegate Candidate in 51st Rants About "Socialism"

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Another day, another Virginia Republican ranting about "socialism" coming to America. This time it's Richard Anderson, running against Del. Paul Nichols (who, by the way, does NOT rant about "fascism" or anything else on his website). Check this out from Anderson's website.
Recently, I met a voter who shared an incredibly moving story with me about her experiences growing up in a socialist country. Over time, she witnessed her homeland move from free government to stark socialism, not in one fell swoop, but in gradual incremental steps. She observed to me that socialism doesn’t come in one overt act; it comes in a series of small government intrusions over time, until suddenly, the people awaken and realize that their freedoms have been taken away.

Most importantly, this woman spoke to me about the similarities she sees in our country today–a powerful central government slowly and incrementally taking over every aspect of our lives.

With great concern, my new friend implored me to do my part to resist this effort…to defend freedom…to resist the temptations of a government that seeks to take our money with never-ceasing enthusiasm. I was touched by her earnest plea, and I pledged to her on her doorstep that I will do my all to stand up for the freedoms of individuals who toil day in and day out and who simply wish to retain the money that they have rightfully earned.
What's the expression here? Oh yeah, "cuckoo for cocoa puffs," that's the one I was looking for! :)
