Not exactly the messaging you'd think Bob McDonnell would want at this point, but then again, he may just really like and admire Sarah Palin based on the following comments he made to ABC News.
Caught between his conservative base and his new moderate makeover, Bob McDonnell's campaign bounced back and forth on Tuesday about whether or not they wanted Alaska's outgoing governor to visit the Commonwealth.
Virginia political analyst Bob Holsworth wrote on Wednesday: "Thus McDonnell's dilemma. Blow her off and he risks antagonizing the GOP base, already a tad skeptical after his refusal to take a no-tax pledge...Bring her here. And tie himself to the national GOP?"
Well I think she'd be a good spokesman. She was a successful governor in Alaska. She was a popular governor in Alaska, got a lot of things done on taxes, and regulation, and ethics, and you know, those are some of the things that I'm interested in getting done here in Virginia.Hmmmmm....uh, Bob? She got a lot done on ethics? You mean like this ("Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin receives deluge of ethics complaints")? And taxes, seriously? You do realize that Alaska has no sales tax or income tax because of its enormous oil revenues, right? Oh, that's right, you listen to a major global warming "skeptic" who says that we can drill for oil off the coast of Virginia and potentially find the equivalent of the entire world's oil reserves there? Also, you do realize that she raised taxes on oil companies, right? Hahahahahahahaha. Finally, do you really want to model yourself after someone who quit her job because...uh, well, nobody really knows? Uhhhhh.
Yeah, it definitely looks like Bob McDonnell may have a Sarah Palin problem. Problems, that is. Lots of 'em. Gosh darn it! ;)
