Scott Surovell Raises $82,000 in 7 Days

Monday, July 13, 2009

I just received a press release from the Scott Surovell for Delegate campaign (44th district) that reports the following great news:
As a sign of strong support for his candidacy, Scott A. Surovell announced today that he has raised over eighty thousand dollars in his first seven days running for the Virginia House of Delegates between June 24 and June 30. Surovell accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination on July 3, 2009 after Del. Kristen Amundson announced that she will not seek re‐election. Amundson’s departure from the race gave Surovell only seven days to begin his campaign before the quarterly reporting cycle ended June 30.

Surovell, a native of the Mt. Vernon area, raised $82,280 in monetary contributions the last week in June and ended the reporting period with $81,724 cash on hand. He received contributions from 266 donors, averaging $308.16. One hundred seventy‐two donors, roughly two‐thirds, gave $100 or less to the Surovell for Delegate Campaign.

This compares with Surovell’s opponent who raised approximately $25,000 in cash from 58 donors over 47 days excluding approximately $20,000 in self‐funded cash.
Nice job by Scott Surovell!
