Mystery in the Virginia Blogosphere: Too Conservative

Thursday, July 16, 2009

There's something strange going on over at Too Conservative, one of the leading Republican political blogs in Virginia. To be more accurate, there's something strange not going on at Too Conservative, as the blog has been completely offline for a couple of days now, with not a word about what's going on. This follows major "technical difficulties" they were having for a couple of days, which appear to have been (brielfy) cleared up. And that follows a strange incident in which the blog put up a post about a Holocaust denier running in Reston, then took it down. Over at NovaTownHall, "Bulletproof Monk" writes:
...It is rather strange, however…that the Operative is AWOL…Tooconservative is blown completely out of the water, Living in Loudoun appears to be headed to the blogger graveyard, and Hoodathunk, you and I are holding the Loudoun front at this point.
BVBruceLi covers Loudoun stuff sometimes, but it’s rare.

I was just bragging to Alton Foley(formerly “I’m not Emeril”–currently Eschew Obfuscation– http://altonfoley.com/ ) before the Convention that we had 6 great blogs and one liberal farce out this way.

Now, we’re suddenly down to three.
It's a mystery what's up with these blogs, especially considering that Virginia Republicans are supposedly fired up this year. Back in 2005, when Virginia Democrats were fired up over John Kerry's defeat at the hands of Dubya, "blue" blogs were popping up like mushrooms. Now that Republicans are in a lather over supposed "socialism," "terrorists," "Wise Latinas," "they're taking our guns away from us" (uh, no, they're not), and god knows what other imagined horrors they can come up with, you'd think the same would be happening with their side of the blogosphere. Instead, they appear to be going in the opposite direction. Weird.
