Mike Henry Hired to Manage Steve Shannon for AG Campaign

Friday, July 10, 2009

I'm hearing that the Steve Shannon for Attorney General campaign has brought Mike Henry on board as campaign manager. Among other things, Henry was campaign manager for Tim Kaine in 2005, deputy campaign manager for Hillary Clinton in 2007, campaign manager for Mark Warner in 2008, and campaign manager for Terry McAuliffe in 2009. In other words, Mike Henry has just a wee bit of campaign management experience.

According to the Washington Post, "Shannon's current campaign manager Roman Levit will continue on as a senior adviser to the campaign." In addition, the Post points out that "Henry faces Chris LaCivita, a veteran Republican operative who worked for George Allen and was behind the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004 and the first ads about Barack Obama's connection to Vietnam War-era radical William Ayers last year."

UPDATE: From a press release by the Shannon campaign.
"I am ready to get to work to help Steve win this race. He’s the only candidate for Attorney General who has actual experience keeping Virginians safe,” said Henry. “And, the contrast between Steve and Ken Cuccinelli couldn’t be more stark. Steve has a long record of working with Mark Warner and Tim Kaine to get results for the people of Virginia. On the other hand, Ken has been a significant obstacle to progress in Richmond. Since he was elected, Ken Cuccinelli has fought the Warner-Kaine agenda at every turn."
So true.
