McDonnell's New Campaigning Buddy: Palin

Saturday, July 4, 2009

The Green Miles is spending Independence Day weekend in Rhode Island visiting family and remembering what life is like outside the Beltway. Thanks to my (not so much successful) campaign for House of Delegates, this is my first trip outside the DC area since December.

Right now, I'm sitting on a curb in Cumberland, RI as The Green Girlfriend and a couple of my cousins run the Arnold Mills Fourth of July four mile race. The Green Miles can barely finish a 5K and decided to catch up instead on the news of Sarah Palin's sudden and inexplicable resignation.

I still can't seem to find a coherent explanation as to why she quit, though Josh Marshall at TalkingPointsMemo.com seems pretty sure we'll hear news of a new (or wider) scandal in the coming days. Meanwhile, does Bob McDonnell know she'll be bringing that stink of scandal to "help" him on the campaign trail?
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele said later in a statement that Palin is "an important and galvanizing voice" in the GOP and will help the party's gubernatorial candidates this fall in Virginia and New Jersey.
Can't wait!
