Jeff Frederick: Darwin's theories "used by atheists to explain away the belief in God."

Friday, February 13, 2009

Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Jeff Frederick proving once again why Virginia House of Delegates Republicans are mostly a bunch of flat-earth, anti-science, ultra-ideological, Pat Robertson extremists. Their ideology discredited, their ranks depleted, they fall back on bashing - inarticulately at that ("not, not, not...duh") one of the greatest men (Charles Darwin) in human history. Ironically, they do so in a speech which mentions our greatest president, Abraham Lincoln (born on the same day as Charles Darwin), who would look on today's Republican Party in horror at what it's become, and on Jeff Frederick as some sort of evolutionary aberration (mutant?) from the Grand Old Party founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers.

Sadly, today's GOP defines "conservatism" not for what it's for but for what it's against - science, intellect, facts, among other things. How did the once-great Republican Party devolve to such a low level as personified by Jeff Frederick? Ironically, that is a question which evolutionary science might be able to answer.
