Bob McDonnell: Enemy of Virginia Family Values
Thursday, February 12, 2009
For those who don't remember it, the Virginia Family Values PAC was set up by Waldo Jaquith in 2005 as "a non-partisan Virginia political action committee (VA 04-073) dedicated to promoting and protecting those values common to Virginia families, values like freedom and privacy, and working to remove from office those representatives who are anti-freedom, anti-privacy, and anti-family." The page on Bob McDonnell is available here.
As the 2009 Virginia governor's race begins to gear up, and as this Pat Robertson Republican attempts to portray himself as a "moderate," which he most certainly is not, I believe that it's worthwhile recalling the information cited above (click to "embiggen," as Waldo likes to say). In short, the prospect of Governor Bob McDonnell should terrify all Democrats, Independents, and socially moderate Republicans who care about REAL "family values" (like the right to affordable health care and a high-quality education). On the flip side, the prospect of Governor Bob McDonnell should thrill the Pat Robertson, fake "family values" crowd. Which side are YOU on?
