Today is the 61st annual Shad Planking, "a rite of spring in Virginia that doubles as an important barometer of the state's political mood." Aside from speeches by Brian Moran, Terry McAuliffe and Bob McDonnell (note: Creigh Deeds will not be attending Shad Planking this year), there will be the usual food, beer, and of course the famed "sign wars" (who will have more, Terry or Brian or Bob?). To get you in the mood, here are a few photos from the 2006 Shad Planking (when it was sunny and warm, not rainy and cool). Depending on the weather, I'm planning to head to Shad Planking today and will report back when I can.
